A notebook of the seasons

Seasonal notes work best when they are specific. Record the weather you experienced, the date and the location rather than announcing what a whole region is always like. A repeated walk can reveal small changes that a single visit misses.

Keep weather impressions separate from climate information. For travel decisions, use current official forecasts and local advice. For the notebook, describe the smell after rain or a tree gaining new leaves. Both kinds of information have value, but they answer different questions and should not be confused.

Notebook exercise

Take ten minutes to record one detail from your own day. Include the date and setting, then leave the page open for a later observation. Keep any private information out of a version you share.
