An hour in a public garden
A garden can offer a quiet hour without requiring an elaborate itinerary. Follow posted paths and opening rules, give other visitors room and avoid picking plants. Notice the shape of shade, the texture of leaves and the way a path frames a view.
Bring back observations rather than souvenirs from the plants. If you want to identify a species, consult a reliable local guide and leave uncertain names marked as uncertain. A sketch of one leaf or a description of changing light can be a satisfying record even when you do not know every name.
Notebook exercise
Take ten minutes to record one detail from your own day. Include the date and setting, then leave the page open for a later observation. Keep any private information out of a version you share.
