Photographs with consideration
A photograph records a moment, but it also involves the people and places in that moment. Ask before making a portrait, respect restricted areas and stop when someone is uncomfortable. Do not treat a purchase or a friendly exchange as automatic permission to publish an image.
Before sharing, consider what the image reveals. Names, documents, private addresses and children deserve particular care. A thoughtful caption explains what you know without inventing a story about a stranger. Sometimes the most respectful record is a written impression that keeps the person anonymous.
Notebook exercise
Take ten minutes to record one detail from your own day. Include the date and setting, then leave the page open for a later observation. Keep any private information out of a version you share.
